2nd Workshop of the Project of energy conservation indicators
in the countries of southern shore of the Mediterranean
On 6 and 7 April 2011, was held in Cairo (Egypt), the second workshop on the "Project of energy conservation indicators in the countries of southern shore of the Mediterranean and MENA", under Plan Bleu coordination in partnership with Regional Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) and MED-ENEC.
Opened with addresses by Ing. Samir Hassan, Director of RCREEE, Dr. Ahmed Badr, Representative of the European Union Delegation in Egypt and Dr. Laila Georgy Yussef, Vice-Chairman of the Egyptian New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA), this event brought together about forty people representing 10 countries involved in the project and associated organizations and especially the center RCREEE and the MED-ENEC project. Also attended the second workshop, the Egyptian New and Renewable Energy Authority -NREA-, the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency-EEAA-, focal point of the Plan Bleu in Egypt, and the French Agency AFD in Egypt.
Moderated by Mr. El Habib El Andaloussi (Plan Bleu), this workshop, which took place after the one in Tunis in January 2011 that included a training session to energy efficiency indicators, has largely been devoted to reviewing the data collected during the first months since the launch of the project and difficulties encountered by the various experts and national teams.
The next and third workshop will be held in Algiers in next June 2011, and will focus on validation of data and indicators calculated.
