2nd Mediterranean Forest Week
Sessions on "Forests, societies and territories"
In the framework of the 2nd Mediterranean Forest Week, Plan Bleu and the International Association for Mediterranean Forests (AIFM), jointly with FAO/Silva Mediterranea, the Mediterranean Model Forest Network (MMFN), the Association of Mediterranean Forest Owners (ARCMED) and COFOR International, organized three sessions on “Forests, societies and territories” (Tuesday 5 and Friday 8 April).
The objective of these sessions was to promote territorial and intersectoral approaches for forest management and initiatives aimed at improving forest governance. They encompassed presentations on territorial experiences of Mediterranean wooded ecosystems participative management, as well as on methodological approaches for territorial governance. Substantial time was given for discussions and the formulation of conclusions and recommendations, with the aim of guiding the future activities of the FAO/Silva Mediterranea working group on “Mediterranean forests and sustainable development” (MFSD).
