Draft agreement between Veolia Environnement and Plan Bleu

On January 25th, 2008, in Paris, Michel Dutang, Director of Veolia Environnement Research and Henri-Luc Thibault, Plan Bleu’s director, signed a draft agreement drawing the objectives and main lines of the partnership that both institutions intend to conduct, especially on water, energy, transports and waste management issues. This partnership would be materialized in the first half-year of 2008 with joint activities in the field of urban mobility and urban waste management in two Mediterranean cities.

 

PARMENIDES Steering Committee

On January 24th, 2008, Henri-Luc Thibault participated in the PARMENIDES steering committee. The Professor A. Capron, member of the Institut de France, chaired this steering committee that was organized in the Académie des Sciences and that gathered officials of research institutions (CNRS, IRD, IFREMER), of development institutions (AFD), of education centres (INSU, CPU, CIHEAM), of Ministries (French Ministry of Agriculture, French Ministry of Environment). <More...>

15th Ordinary Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention

Plan Bleu participated in the 15th Ordinary Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment and the Coastal Region of the Mediterranean, that was held in Almeria, Spain, from 15th to 18th of January 2008. <More in French...>

   

4th meeting of the “Water & Environment working group” of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region

On 17th January 2008, Plan Bleu participated in the 4th meeting of the “Water & Environment working group” of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region lead by the Regional Economic Development Organization (MDER). The meeting consisted in presentations concerning the activities of the “Maison régionale de l’eau » (located in Barjols, Var), the development of micro-electricity, water as a way to valorize the regional territory and the new Regional Council intervention framework in the field of water (“For a water joint and sustainable management policy in PACA region”).

International Days on Integrated Coastal Zone Management

Upon the International Days on Integrated Coastal Zone Management that the University of Nice organized with the support of the UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission, of the “Agence de l'Eau Rhône-Méditerranée-Corse”, of the Regional Council of PACA (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur), of the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes and of the city of Nice, Henri-Luc Thibault presented the new works conducted by Plan Bleu as regards the sustainable development of the Mediterranean coastal zones. These Days take place in Nice from 9 to 11 January, 2008. They are stirring up about fifty participants and mainly aim at contributing to fostering synergies between academics, managers and coastal zones planners for the benefit of their protection and their sustainable development, and strengthening North/South international cooperation in this field. 

   

Growth in the collaboration with AFD (French Development Agency)

On the 7 & 8 of January, 2008, a delegation of the AFD came to Plan Bleu in view of carrying out an exchange and work session. It was composed of Jean- Pierre Barbier, Head of the Mediterranean and Middle-East Department, Aude Delescluse, Turkey Regional Councillor and in charge of relationships with Plan Bleu within the aforementioned department and Denis Loyer, Deputy Director  of the Technical and Operational Department. <More...>
