2009 Paris Forum: Save the Mediterranean From 28th to 29th March, 2009, Lucien Chabason, Blue Plan’s chairman and Henri-Luc Thibault took part to the 2009 Paris Forum devoted to “Save the Mediterranean”. They spoke at the sessions on environmental situation of the Mediterranean Sea and on consequences of climate change in the region. 5th International Monaco and the Mediterranean Symposium Mohammed Blinda and Jean Margat participated in the 5th International Monaco and the Mediterranean Symposium, held in Monaco from 26 to 28 March 2009. Since its first edition in March 2001, these meetings held every two years by experts from Mediterranean countries around topics related to the protection of cultural and natural heritage of the Mediterranean. This year, given the urgency of a situation that promises dramatic for many Mediterranean countries, the 5th International Monaco and the Mediterranean Symposium focused on the theme of sustainable and equitable management of freshwater privileging two thrust: the heritage and tradition, and the future and solutions. |
Observatory of Mediterranean wetlands Jean-Pierre Giraud participated to the Second International Workshop on the « Observatory of Mediterranean wetlands » organised on 25-28 March 2009 by Tour du Valat. This Meeting gathering many international institutions and initiatives such as RAMSAR, MEDWET, WWF-MED, Birdlife International, EEA and ETC/LUSI, ESA, Total Foundation and some national representatives of the Mediterranean countries allowed to specify the objectives, the methods, the tools and the indicators of this observatory. |
Steering committee of the programme “Urban Mobility in the large Mediterranean cities” The meeting of the steering committee of the programme “Urban Mobility in the large Mediterranean cities” was organized by the Blue Plan at the Villa Valmer in Marseille, on the 24th of March 2009. The French Agency for the Development (AFD), the MedCites’ network, the French representative of the think-tank for the settlement of the World Bank in Marseille and the qualified personalities – members of the committee- took part to the works. < More … > |
Working group meeting on water information systems Within the framework of the Union for the Mediterranean, a launching Working Group meeting “Strategy for water in the Mediterranean: towards strengthening the cooperation and coordination between the regional initiatives on water information” was held on the last 19 March in Istanbul, during the 5th World Water Forum. < More … > |
Blue Plan at the 5th World Water Forum In the framework of the Regional Process for the 5th World Water Forum (Istanbul, 16-22 March 2009), Plan Bleu and its regional partners, with the support of 4 rim countries (Morocco, Spain, France and Greece), organized a Mediterranean Session which took place on Thursday 19 March and which gathered together more than 300 participants. < More … > |
