Steering Committee "Waste and material flows"

On September 9th, 2009, the Blue Plan gathered the first Steering Committee of the work programme “Waste and material flows”, under the supervision of Henri-Luc Thibault. The project, led by Oliver Keserue, programme officer, was reviewed by 10 Mediterranean experts, specialized in environmental accounting, waste management and urban planning from different entities: European Environment Agency, European Topic Center on Waste, Tunisian National Agency of Waste Management (ANGED), ADEME, Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA), Italian National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT), Barcelona metropolitan water and waste services , Veolia Environmental Services, Regional Activity Center for Cleaner Production (CP/RAC) and MEDPOL. The broad lines of the Blue Plan’s work programme were adopted, which aims to evaluate the quantities of waste produced in the Mediterranean, to compare them to treatment capacities and to express the gaps between the two in term of costs of inaction.
