Conference on the contribution of local and regional authorities
to the Water Strategy of the Union for the Mediterranean

On the 23 rd and 24 th of November, Gaëlle Thivet and Audrey Mouliérac participated in the first Conference on the contribution of local and regional authorities to the Water Strategy of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) held in Lyon (France). This conference, organized by numerous partners among which United Cities and Local Governments and its Mediterranean Commission, the “Solidarity in Water” Programme (pS-Eau), the Urban Community of Lyon and the French Ministry of Ecology, gathered together more than 250 participants coming from different Mediterranean countries: representatives of local and regional authorities, governments, donors, international and regional organizations. It aimed at articulating the recommendations coming from local and regional authorities on the Strategy for Water in the Mediterranean. It also aimed at identifying the actions of decentralized cooperation likely to be presented in the framework of the UfM and at reinforcing the support from important donors for the projects led by Mediterranean authorities .
