Scientific Seminar on “Mediterranean forests in the context of
integrated management of land resources”
On 29-30 April 2009 in Marrakech (Morocco), Gaëlle Thivet participated in the Scientific Seminar on “Mediterranean forests in the context of integrated management of land resources: soil, water and fodder” organized jointly by EFIMED -the European Forest Institute Mediterranean Regional Office-, FAO and the Moroccan National School of Forestry Engineering. The overall objective of this seminar was to discuss and present scientific evidences on the role of forests and forest management in ensuring the sustainability of other resources like soil, water and fodder and analyze the trade-offs among forest, soil, water and fodder from a biophysical point of view and a socio-economic perspective. The presentation of the Blue Plan’s prospective works regarding water resources and demands in the Mediterranean made it possible to introduce the speeches and discussions on the interactions between water and forest at different territorial scales.
