Regional workshop on water and sustainable development in
the Mediterranean
The presentations and discussions underlined that given the context of worsening in water shortage on the one hand , and of increasing in water and energy demands on the other hand, water/energy/climate change interactions will probably grow stronger. This acknowledgement reinforces the necessary implementation of strategies based on water demand management, energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy. It also calls for a strengthening of knowledge and regional solidarity regarding the “water energy system” in the Mediterranean.
