Workshop on the "Urban and mobility development of the Great Tunis"

On the 15th of January 2009, Philippe Vallouis, in Tunis and together with the Observatory of Environment and Sustainable Development of Tunisia, has led a workshop on the “Urban and mobility development of the Great Tunis”. This workshop has permitted to present the study let by two Tunisians experts, Morched Chabbi and Hassen Abid. It was then followed by a debate, moderated by Xavier Godard of the INRETS, on the perspectives for a better implementation of the urban planning and the transports’ as well.

About thirty experts from the concerned ministries (Environment, Development, Industry, Transport, Interior) but also the Agency for the Protection of the Environment, the Agency of the Great Tunis Urbanism, the town council of Tunis, the GTZ German Cooperation and the AFD gave their participation to the debate.

This study is part of a group of 6 case studies (Istanbul, Tunis, Cairo, Alger, Tanger and Lattaquie in Syria) which will contribute to sustain a forum on « the Urban development and the Mediterranean countries mobility » that Plan Bleu will organize by the end 2009.
