Working group meeting on water information systems
Within the framework of the Union for the Mediterranean, a launching Working Group meeting “Strategy for water in the Mediterranean: towards strengthening the cooperation and coordination between the regional initiatives on water information” was held on the last 19 March in Istanbul, during the 5th World Water Forum. This meeting was co-organized by the Blue Plan and EMWIS. In the introduction, Henri-Luc Thibault mentioned the objectives of the proposed initiative, Eric Mino (EMWIS) presented the concept note and Mohammed Blinda focused on value added of this approach using the example of the Blue Plan. Some technical clarifications were given during the discussions and the draft of work plan proposed for the implementation was reviewed. It was suggested to use it as a basis to develop a more detailed proposal that could be presented to the next meeting of the Mediterranean Water Expert Group.
