Preparation of the MAP State of the Environment and Development
in the Mediterranean report

A co-ordination meeting for the preparation of the new State of the Environment and Development in the Mediterranean report took place in Villa Valmer (Marseille, France), on July 1st, 2009. Following the Almeria Contracting Parties conference in 2008, the MAP has been asked to publish every two years and prior to the meeting of the Contracting Parties, a report on environment and sustainable development in the Mediterranean, to meet the request for regular information from the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention. The report will be submitted to the next meeting of the Contracting Parties in November 2009 in Marrakech.

The objectives of the meeting were to revise all chapters, to validate the key messages, and to identify the gaps and proposals for the necessary amendments and adjustments.
All the RACs of the MAP are involved in the preparation of this report and provide contributions to the various chapters. The overall co-ordination of the work is performed by Blue Plan.
