Seminar on Water in the Mediterranean
The IPEMED, in collaboration with the International Office for Water and the Blue Plan, organized a seminar on water in the Mediterranean. This meeting held in Paris from 12 to 14 November 2009, brought together approximately 50 participants from several Mediterranean countries. This event aimed underscoring the urgency of drafting a water policy in one of the regions of the world that is most vulnerable to the predicted impact of climate change, shifting the water debate to the question of public utilities in the Mediterranean (right of access to basic services by all), highlighting the importance of managing water demand, emphasizing the central role of governance and promoting experience sharing among local and national actors, including utility operators. The Blue Plan was represented by Mohammed Blinda who presented the issues of water in the Mediterranean in the introductory session devoted to the overview.
