5th Urban Research Symposium
The 5th Urban Research Symposium took place in Marseilles from the 28th to the 30th of June 2009. This symposium was organized by the World Bank in partnership with the French Development Agency and the Ministry of Ecology. More than 600 researchers, practitioners and decision-makers from 85 countries gathered at the Palais du Pharo under the theme: "Cities and climate change: responding to an urgent agenda".
Julien Le Tellier, Blue Plan programme officer, participated to the round table organized by the CDC Institute for Research on the urban governance: “Urban governance in big cities: comparative approach between North and South countries”, using some contributions applied to the Algerian, Moroccan, Parisian and Tunisian context.
As a preamble to this symposium, the Caisse des Dépôts and the Isted organized on the 27th and 28th of June 2009, a Research and Exchange Workshop, whose theme was “Climate, Cities and the Mediterranean”. During this workshop, M. Pierre Icard, Head of the Thematic Unit of Blue Plan, presented a communication on the Mediterranean Cities’ vulnerability to climate change.
