Blue Plan is presenting on its website a first assessment of the extreme events’ economic impacts in the Mediterranean countries (in French - soon available in English). This assessment is based on the analysis of the very strong temperatures and precipitations variations in the real, monetary and financial sectors of four Mediterranean countries from 1980 to 2000 and gives an estimate of the early losses for the period 2010-2030. It underlines, for the period 2010-2030, the increased extent of the results of temperature shock on the economy of the studied countries as well as an extension of their resorption period. Despite a global decrease of the anticipated precipitations for the period 2010-2030, the impact of extremes rainfalls will remain perceptible especially in the countries specialized in agriculture. |
